How Much Does a Website Cost in India in 2026?

Website prices in India range from ₹12,000 to ₹15,00,000+ depending on what you're building. A clear breakdown by type — with no hidden line items.

Most "website cost in India" articles give you a useless range like "₹10,000 to ₹10,00,000" with no explanation of what you actually get at each level. This is a real breakdown — based on what we've charged, and what you should expect to pay elsewhere.

We've built over 100 websites for Indian businesses since 2020, from startup landing pages to full web applications. Here's what things actually cost.

1. Basic Brochure Website: ₹12,000–₹30,000

What's included:

  • 4–6 pages (Home, About, Services, Contact)
  • A template or lightly customised theme
  • Mobile responsive layout
  • Basic contact form and Google Analytics

What's not included:

  • Custom design (it's a template)
  • Any meaningful SEO
  • Custom functionality
  • Speed optimisation

Who it's right for: Freelancers, solo professionals, and local service businesses that need a basic digital presence. Not suitable for businesses that rely on organic Google traffic for leads.

The honest caveat: A ₹15,000 website built on a shared host with a ₹500 template will cost you more in lost leads than a proper custom site. It's a false saving.

2. Custom Business Website: ₹40,000–₹1,20,000

What's included:

  • Custom Figma design — not a template
  • Semantic HTML/CSS from scratch or a clean custom WordPress theme
  • Mobile-first, Core Web Vitals optimised (target Lighthouse 85+)
  • Full on-page SEO setup — meta tags, schema markup, sitemap, Search Console integration
  • Google Analytics 4 configuration
  • Contact form with SMTP, basic CRM integration
  • 3–5 weeks delivery with staging environment

Who it's right for: Established businesses, service companies, consultants, and B2B businesses that need Google to send them clients. This is the minimum spend if organic SEO matters to your business model.

Our custom business websites start at ₹40,000 and include everything above — no separate line item for SEO setup or Analytics integration.

3. Custom WordPress Website: ₹60,000–₹2,00,000

What's included:

  • Custom PHP theme — not Elementor or Divi
  • ACF custom fields so non-technical staff can manage content
  • Performance-tuned: object caching, CDN-ready, image optimisation
  • Blog and landing page infrastructure
  • WooCommerce-ready if you plan to add a shop later

Who it's right for: Businesses that need non-technical staff to update content frequently. Coaching institutes, real estate companies, educational institutions, media businesses, and agencies fit this profile well.

4. Ecommerce Website (WooCommerce): ₹75,000–₹3,00,000

What's included:

  • WooCommerce store on custom WordPress
  • Razorpay, PayU, or Cashfree payment gateway integration
  • GST-compliant invoicing
  • Product catalogue and inventory management
  • WhatsApp order notifications
  • Shipping integration (Shiprocket, Delhivery)
  • Cart abandonment, wishlist, and product review functionality

Who it's right for: D2C brands and retailers selling physical or digital products in India. If you're comparing WooCommerce vs Shopify, read our guide on Shopify vs WordPress for Indian businesses.

5. Custom Shopify Store: ₹35,000–₹1,50,000

What's included:

  • Custom Liquid theme — not an edited Dawn template
  • Sub-2 second mobile load time (Shopify speed score 85+)
  • Razorpay, UPI, and COD flows
  • GST-compliant invoicing via Shopify app
  • Full App Store and product listing optimisation

Note: Shopify has a monthly subscription fee (₹1,994–₹16,450/month depending on your plan) that's paid directly to Shopify — separate from the build cost.

Who it's right for: D2C product brands, fashion and lifestyle businesses, and any store planning to scale ad spend on Meta or Google. Shopify's checkout and pixel integration is more reliable for paid traffic than WooCommerce.

6. Web Application or SaaS: ₹1,50,000–₹15,00,000+

A web application — a SaaS product, customer portal, booking platform, or marketplace — is a completely different category from a website. Pricing depends on features, backend complexity, infrastructure, and team size.

Web application builds start around ₹1,20,000 for a defined MVP. Full SaaS products with user management, billing, multi-tenancy, and dashboards typically start at ₹3,00,000 and go up significantly from there.

What Causes Prices to Vary Within a Range

Design complexity: A 15-page site with custom scroll animations costs more than a clean 6-page brochure.

Number of integrations: Every third-party API — CRM, WhatsApp, ERP, payment gateway, booking system — adds development time.

Copywriting: If you need website copy written for you, add ₹15,000–₹40,000.

Photography or video: Custom imagery is not included in most web design quotes. Stock images are.

Ongoing SEO: Building the website is not the same as ranking it. If organic traffic matters, budget for 3–6 months of SEO work separately from the build.

Pricing Traps to Avoid

Shared hosting lock-in: Some agencies quote a low upfront price, then lock you into their hosting at ₹6,000–₹20,000/year with poor performance and no data portability. Ask where your site will be hosted before signing.

Template sold as custom: You're paying custom prices for a modified Themeforest template. Ask to see the actual code or previous projects before committing.

Vague revision terms: "Unlimited revisions" before design approval is very different from unlimited revisions after development starts. Get the revision scope in writing.

No written scope: If an agency won't give you a fixed-scope, fixed-price document before starting, that's a red flag. Scope creep on unclear projects always costs more than the original quote.

Five Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Web Designer

  1. Can you send me three live URLs of sites you've built recently?
  2. Will this be a custom design from scratch, or a customised template?
  3. Where will the site be hosted, and what does ongoing hosting cost?
  4. What's included in post-launch support, and for how long?
  5. Will you provide a fixed-scope, fixed-price proposal before we start?

Websites are a business investment, not a stationery expense. The right build pays for itself in leads and credibility. The wrong one quietly costs you customers every month.

If you want a fixed-scope quote for your project, get in touch — we send detailed proposals within 48 hours.
